Abstract : The final report includes a series of applications of transient methods to real electrode process studies. The investigation covered the employment of methods involving linear variation of the imposed potential with time, relaxation techniques under potentiostatic control and methods under mass transfer by forced convection. The techniques of linear sweep voltammetry, potentiostatic step pulses and rotating ring-disc electrode were widely applied in the research problems studies. The report includes the results and discussions in the following areas: A new circuit for the independent control of two working electrodes, (ring-disc assembly, for example) in the same electrolyte is described, it was proved that the films formed on a cadmium electrode surface during its oxidation in KOH solutions are potential, KOH concentration and time dependent; and an electrode mechanism of the oxidation of cobalt metal in KOH solutions, consistent with the experimental results, was postulated.
