Abstract : A simple system for trapping 14CO2 in in vitro metabolic studies was evaluated for use with various trapping agents. Parameters were established for the rapid and quantitative recovery of 14CO2. The procedure was shown to allow the safe transfer of trapped 14CO2 to scintillation counting solutions with a high degree of accuracy and reproducibility. For the determination of radioactivity, a counting system was used which reduced sample handling and held counting error to a minimum. Results were obtained in absolute units with few additional calculations required. (Author)
