Abstract : Ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy and optical spectra was used to study the electron energy states, optical excitation processes, final state interactions, and hot electron scattering processes in metals, semi-metals, and nonmetals. Very thin films of alkaline earth metals have been used to control the photoemission threshold (work function). (Author)
