Abstract : Development of a motion control algorithm for a spacecraft reentering the atmosphere at a velocity on the order of the escape velocity. It is assumed that the spacecraft has a stabilized platform with three accelerometers positioned along mutually perpendicular axes, and that the motion control is realized by changes in the spacecraft lift direction produced by changes in the roll angle, while the required roll angle is obtained by onboard computer analysis of the measured data. Simulation results indicate that by a rational selection of the algorithm parameters this reentry trajectory control problem can be effectively solved and the algorithm can be made sufficiently insensitive to medium-density variations during reentry and landing.
