Abstract : The technique of extreme value statistics (EVS) developed by Gumbel has been applied to the laboratory evaluation of radar systems. A computer program has been written using the EVS technique to provide false-alarm probabilities, confidence limits, and design information. Two test cases are included to provide a comparison of this technique with previous techniques. A set of plots for use in testing the applicability of the theoretical model to a given set of experimental data also are included. (Author)
