Abstract : The report describes research in Raman spectroscopy. The use of group frequency techniques allowed the detection of aromatic compounds, determination of substitution on the benzene ring and in several cases a knowledge of the substituent group. Group correlation frequencies are reporting large numbers of organic compounds. New techniques were developed for handling liquids and solids; most especially, for the study of their Raman scattering. The report primarily presents characteristic frequencies in the raman spectra of the following: Aliphatic and cyclic aliphatic hydrocarbons; Chloroalkanes, bromoalkanes, and iodoalkanes; Aliphatic ethers; Nitroalkanes; Aliphatic alcohols; Aliphatic amines; Amides; Aliphatic aldehydes and ketones; Acyclic organic molecules; and Heterocyclic compounds.
