Abstract : The paper investigated identification problems for a dynamic system which can be described by differentialdifference equations. Subjects important to the identification problem, such as controllability, observability, and equivalent systems were studied. Three identification schemes were developed. The determination of impulse response weighting matrix for a linear delaydifferential system was studied and a realization algorithm was developed. An integral approximation method was developed for an offline system identification ina finite time interval. An algorithm was also developed for an online identification according to the model reference control theory and Liapunov stability technique. The developed computational algorithm was verified by a digital simulation. (Author)
