Abstract : The 256-element S-band phased-array antenna is made up of 16 modules arrayed in a straight line. Each module (termed a basic unit) consists of a 1:16 stripline power divider, 16 flux driven phase shifters and their electronic drivers, and an aperture matching structure. A lossless beam forming network combines the basic units for independent control of the sum and difference aperture excitations. An on-line monitoring system ensures that each phase shifter receives the required phase command. The report details the development of the array, presents final performance data, and discusses problem areas encountered during development. (Author)
