Abstract : Resonance Raman scattering of the MnO4(-) ion in H2O and D2O solutions is reported. Several overtones of the v(1) mode of this ion (T(d) symmetry) and combination tones nv(1)(A1) + v3(F2) are observed. From the wavenumbers of the overtones of v(1) the dissociation energy of the MnO4(-) ion has been estimated. (Author)
