Abstract : Quantitative studies have been made of the flow of water from an isolated sector of a vortex-type injector. The results are used to explain the phenomena observed on tests made during the development of a packaged propellent rocket engine. A correlation is developed to determine the deflection of the tangentially introduced liquid by a jet injected radially, and this result is shown to be applicable to the design of an injector for the hypergolic propellents mixed amine fuel and inhibited red fuming nitric acid.
