Abstract : The work described in this report was aimed primarily at understanding the characteristics of the conduction electron states at the Fermi surface of metals. In particular, during this grant period the author has performed various studies of the metals beryllium, magnesium, zinc, cadmium, white tin, nickel, iron, and calcium. The author has completed extensive redesign and construction of experimental apparatus which allows one to measure signals as small as 0.003 micromicrovolts at temperatures as low as 0.02K in magnetic fields as high as 59 KG, The author has used some of the low temperature apparatus to study the properties of positive and negative ions in liquid He4 in the range of temperatures from about 0.28 degree K to 1.0 degree K.
