Abstract : The primary method for estimating the correlation between GRE aptitude test scores and the probability of graduate success involves calculation of the sample correlation coefficient. Since this approach is questioned for prediction or policy formulation, the logistic quantal response model is suggested as a means for estimating the functional relationship between the probability of achieving the graduate degree and the GRE aptitude test scores. Data from the Air Force Institute of Technology graduate systems analysis, graduate aeronautical-mechanical engineering, and graduate logistics management programs were used as the basis for estimating the probability of achieving the graduate degree and a nominal 95% confidence limit for this probability.
