Abstract : Slender, conical, plane, and cambered wing-body combinations with different volume distributions have been investigated in supersonic flow. All combinations have had the same triangular planform (lambda = 1) and nearly the same volume. Lift, drag, and pitching moment have been determined experimentally; particularly, the nonlinear lift component has been studied more closely. The influence of the volume distribution in spanwise direction has been investigated as well as the possibility of obtaining a drag reduction by suitable camber near the leading edges for a certain (cruise) lift coefficient. Pictures of flow patterns have given information on the flow field. Measurements of base pressures have completed the investigations. (Author)
