Abstract : A calculation is made of the diffusion coefficient in a binary liquid from the fluctuation-dissipation theorem. The fluctuating current is the product of the local fluctuations in concentration and velocity. By assuming that these variables are statistically independent, it is possible to calculate the particle conductivity. It is found that in the critical region the diffusion coefficient is inversely proportional to the correlation length. The effect of inhomogeneity of the fluid on the diffusion coefficient is approximated in the critical region. (Author)
