Abstract : An experimental study was performed to determine practical design considerations for applying the theory of disturbance absorbing controllers to some typical regulator type control systems. The systems considered were subjected to a variety of typical disturbances encountered in practice and the effectiveness of the absorber was evaluated for various controller characteristics. A brief summary of the mathematical theory of disturbance absorbing controllers is presented and a step-by-step procedure for the practical designing of disturbance-absorbing controllers is developed.
