Abstract : An aspect of radiation produced by a charged particle moving uniformly with superluminal velocity perpendicularly across a plane interface in a dielectric half-space terminated by a semi-infinite region of free space is presented. The dielectric half-space into which the charge enters after crossing the interface does not support a Cerenkov wave even though the particle moves with superluminal velocity and satisfies the condition for the existence of such a wave in the corresponding unbounded dielectric.
