Abstract : Most of the effort was devoted to a study of the weak interactions of long lived neutral kaons. One of the most fundamental experiments in elementary particle physics was completed by discovering the existence of a charge asymmetry in the muonic decay of the long lived neutral kaon. It resulted in the first prima-facie demonstration that there is a particular charge bias in nature. A large multiplate spark chamber and an exceedingly accurate timing system to determine the neutral kaon energy by the time of flight from the target. A new technique for rapid on-line handling of data was developed to compute all of the direction cosines of the spark chamber tracks while actually taking data. A first prototype module was constructed. It is a generalized data shifter and sorter with access to the outside through front panel connectors enabling transfer of blocks of information at high speed from one set of locations to another, either inside or outside of the system.
