Abstract : Effects of vertical wind on the horizontally launched 2.75-inch rocket are discussed. The vertical unit wind effect is an order of magnitude greater than the horizontal unit wind effect, thus playing an important role in the impact point of the rocket. A novel approach to the generation of a ballistic factor curve is presented. It is shown that approximately 90 percent of the total wind effect on the rocket occurs in the first 400 feet of the horizontal range. Finally, a proposed meteorological system for wind compensation is presented. (Author)
