Abstract : Rhesus monkeys were trained on a 10-second delayed response test in the Wisconsin General Test Apparatus. Single 4-mg/kg (1/2 LD50) intravenous or repeated 2-mg/kg intramuscular injections of the chlorinated hydrocarbon dieldrin were then administered. These injections did not consistently affect the animals' abilities to attend to the experimenter, the latencies between presentation of stimuli and responses, or the number of correct responses. The results indicate a need to develop more sensitive tests for the analysis of behavioral effects of such chemical compounds. (Author)
