Abstract : Linear-elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) provides an analytical framework to define the relationship between flaw size and stress level by the single parameter K. At instability for thin sheet, this parameter becomes K sub c, indicating the critical value for a situation of plane stress. To develop a standardized specimen and test procedures, a program was initiated to explore the variables associated with thin sheet fracture testing.
