Abstract : The accuracy of proposed lower confidence limits for system availability is analyzed. Random values of the lower 100(1-alpha)% confidence limit (A sub SL(alpha)) for system availability are computed for a system whose failure density is exponential and whose repair density is exponential. The system is modeled as an alternating renewal process. The 100(1-alpha) the percentile point of the generated distribution of (A sub SL(alpha)) is compared with system availability as a measure of accuracy for (A sub SL(alpha)).
