Abstract : The properties of the consistence lubricants ar investigated and prepared on individual hydrated calcium soaps of higher fatty acids: calcium laurinate (CaLa), calcium myristate (CaMi), calcium palmitate (CaPt), calcium stearate (CaSt), calcium behenate (CaBe) and their mixtures. It is shown that the lubricants on individual calcium soaps of higher fatty acids from C12 to C22 do not display the dependence of the dielectric constant, epsilon, on the deformation rate D. It is suggested that the polarization of the lubricants on the mixture of acids is connected with the presence of water molecules in the structure defects of soap crystallites linked by means of hydrogen bonds into chains in which proton transfer takes place.
