Abstract : A review is given of experiments by the authors and other investigators on the influence of caffeine and coffee on the urinary excretion of catecholamines. It was shown in these experiments, that the ingestion of coffee with 225 mg caffeine increased the excretion of adrenaline and noradrenaline in healthy test persons. Coffee containing a high dose of caffeine (750 mg) similarly increased adrenaline and noradrenaline excretion and caused a small rise of plasma lipids as well. These effects could not be observed after administration of decaffeinated coffee. (Author)
