Abstract : The article discusses some of the problems involved in bringing a winged space apparatus down at a landing site from a circular orbit. It discusses longitudinal and lateral control of the aircraft in the descent process. A system for the automatic control of the space apparatus in the descent process is described, with emphasis on the effect of various disturbances.
