Abstract : The research performance consisted of four principal phases: (a) the study of available methods of instrumenting ship hull deformation velocity as a dynamical response to an underwater explosion; (b) the analysis of several measuring systems for instrumenting such deformation; (c) the design of a device for the measurement of response velocity, using a viscous medium for damping and suspension of a moving armature; and (d) construction and testing of this device to determine the degree to which it is applicable to the needs of the Underwater Explosion Research Laboratory.
