Abstract : The manual presents a computer program for calculating the response of hardened air intake and exhaust gas sytems to air blast when the air system and the equipment within or attached to it are open to the atmosphere (i.e., blast valves are not used). The program can accommodate a wide variety of atmospheric weapons detonations, air system geometries, and prime movers (if so desired). Originally intended for the NIKE-X Power System design studies, the program represents the culmination of five years work and a $500,000 theoretical and experimental study. Although maximum benefit can be obtained by using this manual with companion documents cited in the Foreword, enough theory is included with a users guide so that the manual is virtually self-contained. The computer program has also been designed to accept a dust and air temperature computer program output as input. Other applications for this computer program include shelters which do not have blast valves installed or which are being investigated for the effect of blast valve failure. (Author)
