Abstract : A comprehensive analysis is presented on the behavior of electromagnetic field oscillations in a closed resonator whose walls fluctate according to a known law. The simplest model two-plane-parallel reflective walls, one of which undergoes certain fluctuations in a direction perpendicular to both planes, is considered in this first part of the work, with a view to investigating the basic conditions of building up oscillations from certain initial conditions by the recurrent interaction of the initial waves with the wall fluctuations. Also, the effects of wall fluctuations on the wave characteristics are considered under conditions excluding build-up or generation. An ideal case is considered and all factors are neglected which affect the results under real conditions (properties of the medium, dispersion of resonator characteristic, field components depending on coordinates other than those perpendicular to the walls, etc.). Losses due to wall imperfections as reflectors are expressed through diminished reflectivity of the stationary wall. The fundamental solutions are derived from Maxwellian field equations according to the D'Alembert method. (Author)
