Abstract : The multiplication of Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) inoculated intracerebrally in the mouse was examined in its hippocampus neurons under application of high energy electron microscopy and cytochemical analysis of several enzymes and chemical components. High voltage electron microscopy has made it possible to observe the three-dimensional structure of cellular elements appearing in the viral factory where viral particles are developed. Autoradiography has confirmed that nucleic acid is synthesized in mitochondria in the infected neutrons. (Author)
