Abstract : In the design of cryogenic apparatus it is customary to select the same material for use throughout to minimize the risk of strains arising from the generally dissimilar expansion coefficients of various materials. The purpose of the report is to point out the apparently little known fact that certain phenolics may be employed quite compatibly with metals such as brass and stainless steel. (Author)
