Abstract : A method for quick-look data analysis and a complete error analysis is presented for the previously described remote sensing system for determination of atmospheric density below 250 km. The quick-look analysis is suitable for on-board implementation, and is expected to produce an overall error of less than 1 percent in the relative N2 profile. The absolute errors are expected to be as high as 28 percent, mostly because of the difficulty in absolutely calibrating the spectrometer. This error can be significantly reduced, and the entire system calibrated, by a comparison of the deduced N2 densities with the results from a single rocket-borne mass spectrometer flight. (Author)
