Abstract : Seebeck effects, based on interaction of electrical and thermal effects of heated solder, and the Peltier effect (effect of external current on temperature of an article) are examined as applied to the friction and cutting of metals. A description is applied to the friction and cutting of metals. A description is given of an instrument whose operating principle is based on the Peltier effect. Experimental results of drilling heat resistant steel are presented, along with findings from a study of wear on specimens and tools. (Author)
