Abstract : Superconducting shielding offers the possibility of extremely high attenuation (shielding factors of 10 million) of time varying external fields from very low frequencies up to frequencies in the microwave region. The authors have demonstrated that it is also possible to obtain exclusion of steady external fields to the extent that a region 4 inches in diameter and several feet long had a field of less than 6 x 10 to the minus 8th power gauss. This type of shielding is not difficult to use in most low temperature apparatus. (Author)
