Abstract : The homonuclear diatomic molecules Dy2, Ho2, Er2, Tm2, and Yb2 have been found to exist over respective metals. Using ion-current ratios of diatomic to monoatomic species derived from a combination of Knudsen effusion and mass spectrometric techniques, the dissociation energies of these molecules have been determined.
