Abstract : The paper summarizes a study of flow conditions upstream and downstream of an open channel transition. The method of analysis is based on momentum principles, and a theoretical equation is derived to describe the flow. A design procedure is suggested, based on an experimentally determined correction term to be used in the theoretical equation.
