Abstract : Baroreceptors in the cardiovascular system are pressure transducers that provide a series of nerve impulses used by the central nervous system for control of blood pressure, distribution of blood flow, and body fluid balance. The study described in this thesis incorporates known facts and hypotheses about the receptor mechanism to develop a nonlinear mathematical model, based on physical principles, relating the pressure to the impulse activity.
