Abstract : During the winter of 1970 the characteristics of atmospheric turbulence over arctic sea ice were studied. The instrumentation consisted of two cup anemometers, two thermocouples, and a one-dimensional sonic anemometer-thermometer. Approximately 70 hours of data were obtained over a range of stable conditions. Spectra of vertical velocity (w), air temperature (T), and cospectra (wT) are presented. The effect of increasing stability on the shape of the spectra is examined. (Author)
