Abstract : The report is concerned with three general approaches in the finite element formulation of small strain plasticity problems, using the HenckyNadai deformation theory as a mathematical model for the material behavior. The finite stressstrain matrix due to Havner is adapted into the secant modulus or directiterative approach. Two quaseilinear incremental forms of constitutive matrix are derived. An explicit relation is also given for the calculation of plastic strain increments in the incrementalinitial strain approach. Particular attention is given to the finite element formulation using a combined moduli approach. A close similarity between two types of plasticity theories is shown. (Author)
