Abstract : The processing procedures and parameters were developed for the fabrication of uniform controlled permeability porous beryllium billets by cold isostatic pressing and vacuum sintering of fractioned commercial, attritioned powder. Optimized parameters for the production of 1 1/2-in.-diameter billets in the permeability range of 1 x 10 to the minus 11 power sq in. to 1 x 10 to the minus 12th power sq in. and 3-in.-diameter billets in the permeability range of 5 x 10 to the minus 10th power sq in. to 5 x 10 to the minus 12th power sq in. were derived by an iterative experimental procedure.
