Abstract : Knowledge, together with understanding, that pertains to the propagation of electromagnetic waves through the ionospheric irregularities, and artificial electron clouds provides the Air Force with information and criteria necessary for the solution of problems involving discrimination, detection and communication. The scattering of electromagnetic waves from clouds with a high collision frequency is an essential part of this information. For a series of density distributions, a study has been conducted of the reflection of electromagnetic waves from stratified overdense plasmas in which the ratio of collision frequency to incident frequency is large and the transmission negligible.
