Abstract : The probabilistic buckling behavior of structures due to externally applied loads and initial internal forces caused by random lackoffit of members is treated as a random eigenvalue problem. For some structures, the critical buckling load can be related explicitly in terms of the random lackoffit parameter of the problem. Thus if the probability distribution of the lackoffit of members is known, the probability of critical buckling of the structure can be evaluated exactly. (Author)
