Abstract : The report proposes that small portable video tape recorders can be employed effectively and economically as a 'scratch pad' during course development. Doing so facilitates the Instructional System Development approach. Current off-the-shelf equipment can be used to data gathering during the analysis of system requirements. It can be used for data gathering during the analysis of system requirements. It can be very advantageous in obtaining clear and concise definition of training requirements. This same equipment can be employed for initial development of the course objectives and the test materials. While it is recommended that videocordings be used during the development of training sequences, it is not advocated that they be used to presentations in the classroom. Rather, conversion of the training material to manuals, prenarrated slide sequences, or movies is advocated. (Author)
