Abstract : Students at the USMC Physical Fitness Academy were tested to determine whether times in the 1000-yard run and the three-mile run successfully predicted times in the 20-mile forced march. The r between the 1000-yard run and the criterion was 0.56; that between the three-mile run and the criterion was 0.77. These correlations are not high enough to provide satisfactory predictions.
