Abstract : Dispersed rocks (soils) under natural conditions change their structure during freezing. In rocks there occurs a redistribution of moisture depending on the direction of heat flux with an accumulation of it in places where there is crystallization. In the process of ice liberation there occurs an increase in the total size of the rock, known as 'heaving of rocks during freezing'. The existing idea of frozen rock was reflected in the choice of method for calculating the compaction of frozen rocks during their thawing. (Author)
