Abstract : The hypersonic flow of a dissociating low density gas in the shock formation region has been investigated. The governing equations are derived from the Navier-Stokes equations, the energy equation and the species-conservation equation. They are integrated by means of a finite-difference scheme taking into account slip-flow-and temperature-jump boundary conditions.
