Abstract : Superconducting flux pumps are constructed and tested. The device consist of a small superconducting coil in parallel with a larger magnet, attached to the secondary of a transformer and immersed in a liquid helium bath. The rate of pumping is related to the power supply signal and the intensity of the magnetic biasing field applied to the switching coil. An expression relating magnet current to circuit component parameters after 'n' pumping cycles is developed and shown to qualitatively agree with experimental observations. (Author)
