Abstract : The paper examines a procedure for investigating a relationship between executive level, assumed to be commensurate with executive ability, and short-term memory. A preliminary study was made on a small group of executives. The results showed a need for a more representative sample of executives, and a need for a further investigation into the method of determining executive level. The following hypothesis was also examined: lower scores on the short-term memory test would result from fatigue. A short-term memory test was given to the same subjects after a day of work and then given to the same subjects after a night of rest. The results tended to support the hypothesis although the differences were not satistically significant. (Author)
