Abstract : Every two years, each lot of M16Al antipersonnel mines is sampled and tested to verify that the log meets the requirements of its functional code. If not, it is reclassified under another functional code according to the test results. The objective of this research is to recommend a new approach for functionally testing the mine that will be safer, more economical, and more reliable than the various methods presently in use. The report discusses the mine and how it functions, test procedures, previous test methods, and the hazards involved in the test. It also explores several theoretical solutions that were considered in determining best fixtures.
