Abstract : The features of diamond burnishing of a chromium-plated surface are examined. The interrelationship between burnishing modes and geometrical characteristics of surface quality have been established as a result of conducted experiments. Results of experimental work are presented for comparative tests on wear and contact fatigue of chromium-plated samples processed by diamond burnishing and polishing. It has been shown that diamond burnishing increases wear resistance and contact fatigue strength of chromium plating. (Author)
