Abstract : A fast heating rate DTA TECHNIQUE HAS BEEN APPLIED TO VARIOUS COMMERCIAL ACRYLIC FIBRES (Acrilan, Courtelle, Orlon, Cashmillon, Exlan, Creslan, and Acribel). Their melting points, which may otherwise be obscured by exothermic decomposition, can be reliably determined, and the patterns of thermal events obtained by this method can be used to afford some discrimination between commercial acrylic fibres.
