Abstract : The contractual work effort is involved with fundamental measurements of optical absorption, reflection, emission, and transmission, thermal conductivity, specific heat, magnetoresistance, nuclear magnetic resonance, and magnetic susceptibility on II-VI compounds and related semiconductors in a pure state and in a doped state over a wide range of temperature, including low temperatures obtainable only by magnetic cooling techniques. Some of the work on the optical and electrical properties was carried out with the aid of ion implantation techniques. Those physical properties which change under radiation damage and which influence ultrasonic mechanical wave interactions in these crystals are also investigated. (Author)
